A Grey Affair

Forget 50 shades of grey, soft grey is one of my absolute favourites when it comes to wedding colours. It’s not a choice that many people may make, however when used alongside other stunning colour tones such as dusky pink, berry tones, peach twists or simple nudes it can shout out, ‘stunning alternative’ to typical wedding colour schemes.

If you want a base colour, a stylish base colour that pops out using a sophisticated look, then look no further. I mean, look at this suit for starters.

Grey can be used for a frosty winter style using colours and textures, such as the ones used in the bouquet below. For a more striking look you can use brighter tones and textures. It really is an all-rounder.

This dress is something that I can only really say WOW to. The colour, tone and intricate detail really are a one off, WOW!

When using this colour I always think it’s best to use it as a main colour, for example, this table setting has the grey overlay/table cloth as it’s base colour with small grey accents being used throughout. The main colour pop is being demonstrated through the flowers, using tones of your chosen colour will add class and style as well as colour interest.

Grey can be used as the main colour to allow the colour to flow, see the beautiful chair décor and wedding cake below, perfect examples of how to use the colour to frame your lovely flower displays.

Just look at this stunning cake made by one of our wonderful friends. Nat from yummy little cakes really has shown how to use grey when making beautiful wedding cakes.

So if you are looking for an alternative to black, then grey really is your colour. Check out our pinterest board to see some more stylish options when using grey.

Love is in the air <3

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love certainly is in the air today. With that in mind I have decided to start our new year’s romantic resolution today.

Every busy business owner knows that there are never enough hours in the day to complete all those outstanding jobs, let alone the exciting projects milling around in a creative persons head!

I have decided that 2015 is a good time to start a feature that I have wanted to do for such a long time. Real Weddings! I really need to stop keeping these a secret and start to blog some of our wonderful real weddings, which have taken place over the last few years. I have some wonderful memories of these days and now it’s time to share them with you all.

These will be written in our couples own words, along with some input from myself when needed. I cannot wait to post the first one… watch this space and let’s see some lovely couples on their special day.

In the meantime I have some lovely inspiration coming up for next year’s weddings and a lovely grey colour palette that is just to die for.

Much love on this loving day 😉

What the experts say – Tina Donovan @ The Progressive Hair Company

So after starting the feature ‘what the experts say’ I am pleased to be writing this next post as it’s great inside knowledge about the best way to look after your luscious locks!

Another fabulous supplier joins the team, The Progressive Hair Company. We are pleased to have worked with on many, many occasions and Tina who has written today’s post really does know her stuff when it comes to hair.

Tina Donovan @ The Progressive Hair Company Top Hair Tips

Let’s take a look how we can look after our hair that little bit better, take it away Tina…..

To look after your hair between salon visits, use a good professional shampoo and conditioner. Quality products mean you can use less product as they are concentrated within the bottle so adding a little water to your shampoo will go a long way. Look out for products with up filters giving you that added bit of protection whatever the weather.

Give your hair an extra treat once a week by investing in a moisturising Masque. This will work deeper in to your cuticle giving your hair moisture and shine, just what your hair deserves. Wrap in a towel and leave for 5-10 minutes whilst soaking in the bath, a good excuse for a little me time!

Detangling hair! This is usually when we mistreat our hair using a brush or, pulling and over and stretching the hair. SLOW down, use either a wide tooth comb or a tangle teaser, these won’t stretch and pull your locks. Section hair into 3, start combing mid length to ends first then work your way from the root to ends. This will keep tangles to a minimum, if needed use a leave in detangle spray to give you a faster tangle free hair.

What The Experts Say ~ Bettie Lottie

Seeing as I am so lucky to know some of the best suppliers in the area I have decided to ask them inside information on their specialised area of the wedding industry so you can be in the know too!

Kicking us off is someone who will also be a regular feature on the blog, giving all of us beauty conscious people some of the best beauty and make up advice is Beth from Bettie Lottie. Beth is a great edition to our wedding shows and catwalks, with 10 years experience she really knows her stuff.

I don’t know about you but I struggle to make time to do the essentials when it comes to beauty treatments so this may just give me the kick start needed. I mean, I’ve only got one skin and all that!

Bettie Lottie’s Top Beauty Tips

Looking after yourself from the outside is just as important as the inside” Bettie Lottie. Take it away Beth….

Even though the skies are becoming grey the sunlight can still damage your skin. Use a moisturiser or foundation with an SPF factor so you are always protected.

Always remove your make up properly (even after a night on the tiles) and use a night cream. These help to replenish and restore the skin.

Look after your feet. These are vital and we need them for dancing! Regular pedicures help with day to day aliments like hard skin but with anything untoward, go and see a chiropodist as it’ll only get worse.
